USA Swimming CFO Hilliard arrested for alleged theft
Cory Hilliard, USA Swimming's chief financial officer, was arrested on Monday in Colorado on charges of theft, embezzlement and official misconduct during his time as a University of Colorado employee.
The Boulder County district attorney's office announced the charges in a news release saying they will move forward with prosecution on the charges after an internal audit by the school and an investigation by university police.
The charges stem from last July, when Hilliard was administrator of the university's Nike Elite program and officials notified the internal audit department about concerns with Hilliard.
In his role, Hilliard was in charge of managing employee product benefit allocations from the Nike Elite program.
Between 2021 and 2025, Hilliard misappropriated funds for his personal use, an investigation showing Hilliard took $9,510 from the university, according to the release.
Hilliard was hired by US Swimming last December.
In a statement to Swimming World magazine, US Swimming said the organization became aware of the arrest Monday morning and placed Hilliard on leave while an investigation is conducted by the US sport governing body.
